San Diego Photoshoot Locations

Explore a few of my favorite photo session locations in San Diego County below. While these spots are a great starting point, your session is never limited to them. I’m happy to travel wherever your vision takes us. Click any image to view more examples from each location.

Golden meadows and eucalyptus groves make this Chula Vista spot perfect for romantic, sun-drenched portraits with a wild, natural feel. Parking is easy, but the walk in is downhill, so it can be tough for anyone with mobility challenges. Since the sun dips about two hours earlier here, we start sessions a bit earlier than usual to catch that golden light.

MONTEVALLE PARK

ALPINE

Wide open fields and warm backcountry light give sessions here a relaxed, golden hour glow, with the most beautiful golden light and that perfect fall look. Parking is easy, but the walk in is downhill, so it can be tough for anyone with mobility challenges. Since the sun dips about two hours earlier here, we start sessions a bit earlier than usual to catch the light, but the drive out is so worth it.

CORONADO

A long stretch of sandy beach with golden dunes, giving you multiple backdrops in a single session. A favorite for families (and pups!) who want a laid-back coastal shoot without the boardwalk crowds.

EAST COUNTY

BALBOA

Iconic Spanish Colonial architecture with tons of backdrop options in one session. Best done on a weekday to avoid crowds. Parking is now paid, running $5-$16 a day (free after 6pm, or free for up to 3 hours at Lower Inspiration Point with a shuttle in).

SHELL BEACH / LA JOLLA

Dramatic cliffs, tide pools, and beach all in one session for multiple backdrops. The beach is only accessible at low tide and isn't accessible for anyone with mobility impairments.

MARIAN BEAR PARK

BONITA

Easy, accessible spot with a beautiful equestrian path as the backdrop. Wildflowers and green everywhere in spring, lush green through summer, and warm reds, yellows, and browns come winter.

EUCALYPTUS FOREST

Gorgeous, dreamy light in the morning filtering through the tall, slender trunks and dappled canopy of golden leaves, with an ocean backdrop available for sunset. Fully accessible for everyone.

Dramatic bluffs and ocean views for that classic, breathtaking coastal shot everyone dreams of. Some of the backdrops here aren't accessible for people with mobility issues.

SUNSET CLIFFS

The iconic pier as your backdrop with the beach right at your feet, perfect for larger families who want a bit of everything in one spot. Best on a weekday since weekends get crowded, and if you want the cliffs and tide pools, low tide is your best bet.
